1. What SmashTheJob is

SmashTheJob scores how clearly a CV shows the requirements in a job advert, and offers suggested wording. Scores are our software's reading of your text. They are not a prediction of interviews, offers, or how any employer or applicant-tracking system will treat your CV. Suggestions are templates for you to fill with your own experience; they never invent experience for you, and you are responsible for the truth of your CV. SmashTheJob does not create or edit your CV document. You make any changes in your own copy.

2. Who can use it

You must be 18 or over. The service is for individuals working on their own CV. You may not use it to screen, rank or evaluate other people's applications, whether as an employer, recruiter or on their behalf. We may close accounts used that way.

3. Free use

Free use is the same whether or not you sign in: you can add one job advert per day, and one you added on the same device before signing in counts towards that day. Each job advert comes with one rating: a score of one CV against that advert. Rating exactly the same CV against the same advert again is free. Rating an updated or different CV against it uses another job advert, as if you added the advert again. If you rate the wrong file, you can undo that rating within 10 minutes, once every 30 days, and then rate the right one against the same advert without using another. Free use includes one fix suggestion, once per person: a device, an account or an email address that has had one does not get another. It does not include further fix suggestions, the other writing tools or live scores as you edit. We do not keep the text of your CV or job adverts from free use. We keep your scores as numbers, and a one-way code made from your CV's text, for 45 days, as the privacy notice explains.

4. Passes

A pass is a one-off purchase. It does not renew and there is nothing to cancel.

Adding a new job advert uses one advert. Each fix suggestion, and each use of the other writing tools, uses one suggestion. Rating updated versions of your CV, and live scores as you try wording, are unlimited. We warn you at 80% of a limit and never stop you mid-edit. If you run out before your pass ends, email us.

Prices are what you pay; VAT is included where it applies. Passes are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout: Stripe is the seller of record for your payment, charges any VAT or sales tax and sends your receipt, and Shopbarge Ltd provides the service. A pass starts when payment is confirmed. If you buy another pass while one is active, the new one starts when the current one ends.

5. Cancelling and refunds

Within 14 days of purchase: you can cancel for a full refund if you have not added a job advert or used a suggestion on the pass. If you have, we refund the unused portion of the pass pro rata by days, less nothing else. To cancel, email [email protected] from your account address.

If something goes wrong on our side: if the service is unavailable for more than 24 hours in a row, a purchase is charged twice, or a paid feature does not work, email us and we will refund or extend your pass, whichever you prefer.

Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

6. Your content

Your CV and job adverts remain yours. You give us permission to process them to provide the service, as described in the privacy notice. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to use.

7. Availability

We run this as a small service and aim to keep it available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. We may pause new purchases if our scoring provider is unavailable. Saved data for pass holders is backed up nightly; you accept that up to 24 hours of saved edits could be lost if our server fails.

8. Liability

We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of a score or suggestion, including any hiring decision. Our total liability to you for anything else is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Changes

We may change free-tier limits at any time. We will not reduce what a pass you have already bought includes. We will email pass holders at least 14 days before a change to these terms that affects them.

10. Complaints and law

Email [email protected]. We aim to reply within one working day (Monday to Friday). These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep any mandatory protections of your own country.
